Roland Dyens linking the world of Jazz Improvisation and Classical Guitar
Roland Dyens begins his concerts with an original, improvisational piece created especially for his immediate audience. Preferring to announce his program from the stage as the evening unfolds, Dyens creates an unique and warm connection with his audience imparting a performance that is true to his feelings at the moment. Dyens brings a sensitive, open-minded and colorful approach to the guitar which brings together all forms of music to each and every one of his programs. His stage presence, improvised openings and singular relationship with listeners positions him at the forefront of guitar performance today. His compositions and arrangements are widely performed and highly acclaimed throughout the world.
Born in 1955, Dyens began guitar studies at the age of nine and four years later became a student of the Spanish master guitarist Alberto Ponce. He studied composition with the renowned teacher, composer and orchestra director, Dèsirè Dondeyne. Congratulations to the Fall Master Class "Concept to Concert" for a concert well done. On Saturday December 13 musicians performed a wide array of Christmas music for friends and family at Love The Arts! Studios. This Master Class organized from beginning to end a concert of Christmas music, all pieces were memorized and students had hands on experience in every aspect of putting on a concert from advertising to program design.
